Details are emerging about the soon-to-be-open rail and related service running to the white suburb of Leander.
The trains will not be equipped with fare boxes, with fares paid through the honor system. (read free)
Further, the shuttle buses that run these passengers from train stations to their final destinations will be totally fare-free. They will be operated exactly like the UT Shuttles, by the same subcontractor. Passengers will load through both doors just like the service for the historically white University of Texas.
This apartheid system is unacceptable, immoral, and illegal.
All the service should be fare-free and desegregated.
The BRU-ATX has submitted a viable, fast and efficient fare-free plan to Capital Metro. Why is it only being adopted for affluent whites?
