When we were sold "All Systems Go," it was with a promise of BRT. (aka Rapid Bus) This system has yet to materialize, and there will likely be another round of train voting next year before we ever see the mythical RapidBus. Countless millions have been poured into this according to the budgets since the 2004 vote. These millions are gone forever.
We were also promised hike and bike trails. As a bicyclist, I was looking forward to using these trails. I had hopes to use the train too as it lives where I work, but I soon found out it doesn't actually stop there.
But still maybe we could expect a small bone thrown to bike folks. Lord knows the bike crowd voted nearly unanimously for "All Systems Go."
So far 7.2 million dollars has been pissed in the budgetary direction of "Rails with Trails."

That money has vaporized too. Long gone to studies and consultants, but nothing to actually make the project real.
No train, no BRT and no bike trails. The vote seems like ancient history, but the money tsunami never ceases.
When we vote for or against trains next year, we must try to remember how last time we voted to buy a whole lot of nothing.
